A few years into my real estate career, I was ready to throw in the towel and call it quits. I was starving to death (not literally) and unable to make ends meet. I was a "hot shot" Realtor who was broke as a joke. Only it wasn't the least bit funny because, well, it was MY LIFE. I had just gotten married and now had a family to support. But I didn't have ANY clients to work with and couldn't even support myself.
"I wasn't cut out for this shit!" I thought. Maybe it was time to end the financial hardship, the sleepless nights and constant worrying about how we would be able to afford groceries the next day.
In just a few short years, I had learned that all the BS they teach you in real estate school doesn't actually teach you how to SUCCEED in real estate! They never actually teach you how to FIND buyers and sellers to work with!
They teach new agents about "meet & bounds" and how many sq.ft are in an acre..but they sure as hell don't teach how to ATTRACT new clients. Not a single word about how to setup an ad campaign, how to get found organically in Google searches, or how to use social media effectively to get my phone to ring with clients wanting to hire me.
I knew that if I was going to turn this sinking ship around and actually have a successful career as a real estate agent, I needed to learn how to master MARKETING.
I needed to become an EXPERT in organic and paid lead generation, and MASTER my own ability to bring new customers in the door.
But there was one MAJOR PROBLEM...
I didn't have a single fucking clue how to do any of that!
I felt intimidated, overwhelmed, and ALONE.
Fast forward a few years later, and everything has changed.
I dove in head first and learned all that I could about getting found online. I asked the question, "How can I get people to find me online, and then hire me to help them buy or sell?"
Then I sought out the answer with a vengeance.
I learned about content marketing, and started blogging to get found organically in the Google search results. I was writing great articles, but then the next big lesson appeared...
After creating great content... I HAD GET PEOPLE TO KNOW IT EXISTS!
Creating the article, video, podcast, or post was just STEP 1
STEP 2 was getting people to see that content.
So I started reading every article and watching every video that I could, working my ass off to SLOWLY become a MASTER of social media marketing and Facebook advertising. By using all the online tools available to me on The interwebs, I could finally get people to see that great article I wrote, or that super informative video I did.
It was finally working, and I was getting 7-10 organic inbound "come list me" calls (or emails) every week! I began building a recognized brand locally, and other Realtors from around the country even began referring me business! IT WAS AWESOME!
But then I had realization that just royally pissed me off...
WHY THE HELL DID I WAIT SO LONG TO LEAN THIS STUFF?!
WHY did I convince myself that I "couldn't afford" it? When in hindsight, it was FAR MORE EXPENSIVE to go it alone, wasting so much time re-inventing the wheel when I could have just invested a little bit to have blueprints given to me!
To this day, I still shutter when I think about how many closings I could have had over my career if I was able to plug into a SYSTEM, and get results within 60-90 days... rather than 12-18 MONTHS!

Even though I eventually figured it out, got myself out of the pit of financial despair, and perfected
a system for agents to learn and GROW quickly...
I'll NEVER forget the way I felt when I was struggling the most.
